New figures from NetMarketShare show that Internet Explorer 6 browser has now fallen under 15 percent market share, globally, for the first time since it launched back in 2001. The browser has fell to 13.72 percent, with China being the leader in that. Half of Internet users in China still use the “legacy” browser.
The share has fallen to 7.62 percent outside of China. Current market share leader, Internet Explorer 8, has 32.79 percent of the browser market with Firefox 3.6 in second at 18.17 percent. IE 7 is current at 9.53 percent followed by Google Chrome, which is seeing strong growth with 8.02 percent. Other browsers, including Opera, Safari 5, IE 9 are occupying the remaining 16.94 percent.
